the music at RODI over the past few years has been simply amazing.
we are continuing to offer GREAT LIVE MUSIC
every thursday friday and saturday in the dining room.
keep an eye out, i'm throwing in some tuesdays and wednesdays for a few traveling troubadours that i just can't resist.
SO, you say,
WHAT IS UP WITH THE LOFT...?
(the long story)
THE LOFT is upstairs in the same building as RODI.
the whole building is called "THE GEM OF ASHLEY"
"THE GEM" is home to several wonderful local businesses.
"THE GEM" is part of ASHLEY ARMS.
ASHLEY ARMS HISTORIC APARTMENT HOMES
- an adaptive reuse of GASTONIA HIGH SCHOOL circa 1922.
THE GEM was originally the gymnasium for the school building.
it was built in the 60's.
RODI is located in an area that was once a locker room.
THE LOFT is an added second floor that RODI has always used for catering and events.
with the explosion of INDEPENDENT MUSIC in the area, region, even the nation,
we have decided to make this space available for
SPECIAL LIVE MUSIC EVENTS.
we are doing extensive acoustic improvements
and using the area's finest sound people and techies to set the room up.
the concerts will be random for now.
when an opportunity arises, i go after it.
and there are some shows i have in mind, some artists i would love to host.
the
first show we did was a benefit for WSGE
back in june, 2003.
it was a great success and we all had a blast.
